Ian Hattwick is a musician and technologist focused on art which
explores both self-expression and community building. I compose and perform music based on live sampling and digital signal processing, and create interactive artwork and digital musical instruments. I am pursuing an MFA in the Integrated Composition Improvisation and Technology (ICIT) program at the
University of California Irvine, and hang out a lot with the Arts Computation Engineering (ACE) program as well. Next year I will be joining the
Interface Design and Musical Interaction Laboratory (IDMIL) at McGill University in Montreal.
Friday April 22, 2011 is my MFA recital at UC Irvine, featuring the Physical Computing Ensemble and a premiere of How Quickly Infinite Becomes Eight for chamber ensemble and electric guitar.
