decay is the process by which elements of genre break down into simpler musical traits. The process is essential for new growth and development of musical style because it recycles the finite matter that occupies temporal space. ruin is the remains of complete disintegration. This allows for the recombination of mutually exclusive traits into new forms of musical expression.
